Sector councils work as a uniting element to engage businesses, workers, educators, professional associations and governments in a strategic alliance that is focused on determining the specific skills and human resource needs that will enable the sector to thrive.
While there are many labour market issues that Canada’s traditional, and emerging sectors share, each has its own unique challenges as well. Sector councils provide this industry-specific focus that highlights the technological advancements, human resource planning, training opportunities and industry forecasting that enable businesses to better prepare for current and future developments. These programs are as diverse as the sectors themselves, and illustrate the value of the industry-driven sector councils.
